Portugal could follow Ireland in paying back early the International Monetary Fund part of its bailout loans when it sees adequate conditions for such a move, Finance Minister Maria Luis Albuqueque said today.
"Portugal supports and associates itself with the Irish initiative to get permission from European partners for an early repayment of IMF loans," she told a parliament committee.
"It's good for Ireland, It's good for Europe and it's a worthy option for us, so that we could ourselves make an early repayment on the same conditions when the time is right," she added.
