AIB is cutting the amount of interest it pays for money on deposit by between 0.25% and 0.20%.

The changes will take effect from today. It has placed notices in newspapers today alerting savers to the change.

Yesterday the State-owned bank announced it made a profit in the first quarter of this year.

AIB was rescued with a €20 billion bailout from the taxpayer during the banking crisis.
