New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that manufacturing industries' production rose by 5.3% in February from January.
On an annual basis, production for February was also 5.3% higher than the same month the previous year.
The CSO said that the modern sector - which is made up of a number of high-technology and chemical sectors - showed a monthly increase of 5.5%. Production from the traditional sector grew by 3.2%.
Today's figures also show that the seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for the three months from December to February rose by 0.9% compared to the previous three month period.
