The Government-funded organisation that helps technology start ups has launched a new programme aimed at budding businesses developing software for the financial services industry.

NDRC's new FinTech programme is to recruit ten early stage financial services start ups for the first first week programme, which starts in May.

The venture is being supported by Enterprise Ireland, Bank of Ireland, Mediolanum and State Street.

The programme will see the start ups mentored from experts in the tech and financial sectors, and will enable access to businesses where ideas can be tested.

The programme was launched by Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte, who said such an initiative linked to the strategic agenda of the country was immensely valuable.

NDRC says ideas could focus on any area of financial services where a new technology product could solve an existing problem including; retail banking, capital markets, risk and compliance.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 2 May.
