Co Clare company Mincon has begun trading on the ESM market of the Irish Stock Exchange and London's AIM from today.

The company, which is based in Shannon, specialises in the production and sale of rock drilling tools and products.

A drill bit made by the company was used to break through to the cavity where 33 Chilean miners were trapped for nearly three months in 2010.

It has manufacturing operations in Ireland as well as the US and Australia, serving more than 500 customers in about 60 different countries.

Mincon says it has raised €50 million from its floatation, with the company’s market capitalisation standing at €180 million.

It previously stated that it intended to use the net proceeds from the fundraising for acquisitions in the short to medium term. The company has already identified a pipeline of acquisition targets, a statement said.
