Digiweb has acquired the retail assets of Belgian internet service provider Mondial Telecom in an all-cash transaction.
The telecoms provider, which already had a presence in Belgium, said it will serve in the region of 25,000 customers in the country following the acquisition.
In May the company acquired London-based Viatel, which operates a fibre optic network across a number of European countries.
Mondial Telecom has begun to focus on VoIP solutions and said the sale of its retail business to Digiweb fit with this strategy.
Digiweb’s managing director of consumer operations and services, Declan Campbell, said that the Belgian business would be managed from Ireland and the company “has commenced recruitment of additional positions at our Dundalk based Operational Centre to deal with this expansion”.
