New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that a total of 3,417 days were lost to industrial disputes in the three months from April to June.
This compares with 7,754 the same time last year.
Today's CSO figures show that there were three disputes in progress in the second quarter of 2013 involving 2,408 workers and three firms.
One row in the transportation and storage sector accounted for 99% of the total days lost in the three month period.
A Bus Éireann dispute over cost-saving measures resulted in the withdrawal of services nationwide for two days in May.
