Aer Lingus said its passenger numbers rose by 2.9% in July of this year compared to the same month last year.
A total of 1.141 million passengers flew on Aer Lingus - including Aer Lingus Regional - in the month.
The airline said its long haul passengers - at 116,000 - were up 17% compared to the same month last year. Its short-haul passengers rose by 1.5% to just over one million.
Aer Lingus said its load factor - how many seats it fills on each flight - rose by 1.3 points to 87.9% in July compared to the same time last year.
Its short-haul load factor inched 0.8 points higher to 85.9% with capacity decreasing by 2.6%. The long haul load factor rose by 1.5 points to 91.4% with capacity rising by 15.9% on the same time last year.
Aer Lingus said that bookings for the rest of the year were ahead of last year with its long haul operations in the third quarter looking ''particularly positive''.
''However, this booking profile has somewhat eroded over July due to the good weather,'' the company added.
Last week Aer Lingus said its operating profits fell by over 8% to €29.1m for the three months to the end of June. Revenues rose by 6.2% to €398.2m from €374.8m for the three month period, while average fare revenue per seat was up 4.8%.
