Ryanair said it carried a total of 8.84 million passengers in July, up 1% on the 8.72 million carried the same time last year.

The airline said its load factor - how many seats it fills on each flight - was steady at 88% for the month.

In the year to July, Ryanair has flown a total of 80.1 million passengers, up 3% on the same time last year.

Earlier this week, Ryanair reported a 21% fall in after tax profits for its first fiscal quarter, with the figure falling to €78m from €99m the same time last year.

The fall had been expected owing mainly to higher fuel costs, the French Air traffic control strike and the timing of Easter 2013 which fell in the last quarter of its reporting year. Last year, the Easter bounce would have been included in the first quarter figure.

Revenue for the three month period was up 5% to €1.34 billion and Ryanair has maintained its guidance for full year profit of €570m-600m.
