Pending US home sales fall from six-year high

The number of pending home sales in the United States fell last month after hitting a six-year high in May.

Figures from the country’s National Association of Realtors show the seasonally adjusted index for pending home sales down 0.4% at 110.9 in June.

The figure for May was revised down to 111.3, however this still put it higher than any month since December 2006.

The fall in June suggests that higher mortgage rates may be having an effect on the pace of sales, however the number of Americans signing contracts to buy homes was still 10.9% higher than in June 2012.
