Enterprise Ireland client companies achieved record export sales of over €16bn last year.

In its annual report, Enterprise Ireland points to substantial growth coming from the North American and Asia Pacific markets.

Enterprise Ireland said its client companies created almost 13,000 jobs in the year, resulting in a net increase in full-time employment of 3,338.

The agency said its client companies were responsible for a total of 169,451 direct jobs last year, the majority of which were full time.

Last year’s job growth was driven largely by the strong export performance, according to its results.

Meanwhile, it said that around 800 companies were involved in significant research and development projects with a value greater than €100,000. More than 130 client companies were involved in projects with a spend of more than €1 million.
