Ormonde Mining’s bid to establish a tungsten mine in western Spain has been given a boost by authorities in the region.

The company’s Barruecopardo Tungsten Project is understood to have enjoyed “favourable commentary” in a draft Environmental Impact Declaration following an assessment by local authorities.

This declaration will now be forwarded to the region’s government for consideration.

Ormonde estimates that there is as much as 27.4 million tonnes of tungsten trioxide, which has a wide variety of uses as component of electronics.

The company said it has and will not received any formal notification in relation to the environmental declaration.

However it said it was “pleased” with the progress being made in the permitting process.
