Annual manufacturing prices up 1.9% in May

Annual manufacturing prices increased by 1.9% in May 2013, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.

This compares to a similar increase recorded in the year to April.

The rise was driven by a 6.2% increase in computer, electronic and optical product prices, a 5.2% rise in meat and meat product prices and a 1.8% increase basic pharmaceutical products.

Meanwhile, monthly factory gate prices rose by 0.6% in May.

During this period meat and meat products recorded a 2.2% rise and computer, electronic and optical products rose by 1.3%. However dairy product prices decreased by 1.3%.
