The seasonally adjusted monthly services value index increased by 1.2% in April when compared with the previous month, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.
Meanwhile, the index saw an increase of 4.1% when compared with the same figures for April 2012.
Wholesale and retail trade saw a monthly increase of 3.3%, compared to a 4.2% decline on an annual basis.
Administrative and support service activities rose by 1.6% between March and April, growing 21.3% year on year.
Meanwhile monthly activity in transportation and storage was up 0.6%, while other service activities rose by 14.2%.
Information and communications services dropped 1.6% in April but were up 15.4% when look at on an annual basis.
