28% of construction companies saw rise in activity

Just over a quarter of construction companies have seen activity increase in the past three months, according to a survey by the Construction Industry Federation.

Meanwhile just 28% of those asked expect the level of tenders they submit to increase over the next three months, while 43% expect the level to remain the same.

Of the 328 companies that responded to the CIF’s Construction Confidence Index survey, 22% had seen employee levels increase in recent months.

The number of employees had decreased at 33% of responding companies during the same period.

More than half (55%) of those asked said they had less confidence in the state of the industry in Ireland over the past three months.

Just over a quarter of surveyed members of the Construction Industry Federation say activity has increased over the past three months but the other 75% of respondents report either similar or lower levels of activity compared to the previous three months.

Looking ahead 28% of construction companies expect the level of tenders to increase over the next three months and 43% expect it to stay the same.
