Building materials group CRH has been named as the top performing company in the Irish Times Top 1,000 Companies magazine.
CRH, which has a turnover of €18.7 billion, is followed by Microsoft and Google in the list. They have turnovers of €13.7 billion and €12.5 billion respectively.
DCC and Dell Ireland make up the top five of the list.
''This year's survey, taken with recent positive economic data, indicates that the economy has stabilised and may have turned a corner,'' commented the Irish Times' business editor John McManus.
He said that of the 1,000 companies surveyed 47% grew their turnover compared with 28% who reported a decline.
''Most encouraging was the construction sector who reported a boost of 41% in turnover figures,'' he added.
