Unilever has said it is to seek around 40 redundancies from its Irish operations in Citywest, Dublin.
The company said it was seeking the cuts in an attempt to create a “more competitive organisation... in response to an unrelentingly challenging retail environment”.
Unilever Ireland has also announced a review of its pension scheme, the outcome of which will be detailed to employees in eight weeks' time.
Unilever currently employs 190 people in Ireland.
It operates a number of brands including; Lyons Tea, HB, Flora and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise.
The company said it was now engaging in a consultation process with employees in relation to the redundancies.
