More than 5,050 companies have been set-up in Ireland since the start of the year according to Vision-Net, the highest since the same time in 2008.

This compares to an average of 4,752 start-ups being created in the first four months of the years between 2009 and  2012.

A total of 5,676 were established between January and April of 2008.

Around 25% of all new companies established so far this year were in the professional services sector, 6% were in the construction sector and 4% were in property.
