Households' total disposable income rises on higher wages

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that households' total disposable income rose by 2.5% last year on the back of higher wages and higher profits of the self employed.

The CSO said that gross disposable income rose to €86.27 billion last year from €84.19 billion in 2011.

The figures also reveal that household spending increased 0.5% from €77.5 billion to €77.9 billion, while household saving rose by €1.77 billion to just over €11 billion.
