Retail chain Mace has announced plans to add 100 new shops to its network in the next three years, which could create more than 1,200 jobs across the country.

The move is part of a new retail strategy by the brand’s operator in the Republic, BWG Foods, which will see it build on its partners like Maxol as well as further promote its own-brand range.

There are currently around 240 Mace outlets across Ireland, while BWG Foods also operates the Spar, Eurospar and XL retail brands.

The company said it expects to see a 20% increase in retail turnover at the group as a result of the expansion.
