Almost 179,000 letters have been issued by the Revenue Commissioners in the past week in relation to the Local Property Tax.

Meanwhile, Revenue’s dedicated website, which can be used as a guide for calculating the amount of tax due on a property, has had over 608,000 hits since its launch last week.

Revenue’s property tax helpline has received 1,938 calls and almost 580 returns have been received, either via post or electronically.

The Local Property Tax is due to come into effect from the second half of the year, with 7 May set as the deadline for paper returns. Electronic returns can be made until 28 May.

The tax is calculated on the value of the property and is self-assessed by the owner.
