Average weekly earnings rose 1.1% over the year to the end of October to €695 official figures show.
Earnings rose in 8 of the 13 sectors measured by the CSO. It's the third quarter in a row in which weekly earnings have risen compared to the same figures in 2011.
Those employed in the professional, scientific and technical sectors experienced the biggest rise, of 8.4% in weekly earnings, compared to the third quarter last year.
The sector showing the biggest decrease in pay was the accomodation and food services sector with a decline of 5% registered.
The new figures also show the impact of the early retirement scheme introduced to reduce public sector employee numbers.
The CSO stats show there are 16,200 fewer public servants employed than there were in the same period last year, a fall of 4.1%.
Over the past four years public service employee numbers have fallen by 39,000 to 377,900.
