Agri-services company Origin Enterprises reports slow start to trading this year

Agri-Services group Origin Enterprises has issued a trading update that reports a slower start to its financial year ahead of its AGM today.

The report says farm activity in Ireland and the UK was hit by the sustained period of wet weather.

The weather delayed the autumn harvest and challenged arable crop planting conditions.

In Ireland, Origin says, more fertiliser was used as farmers had to support improved grass growth before the end of the growing season.

Feed volumes were higher in the three months to the end of October.

The volumes reflect the demand because there is a limited availability of quality fodder.
