The Central Bank has named Sharon Donnery as the new Registrar of Credit Unions.
She will replace James O'Brien, who is leaving the bank to take up a new job abroad. She will take up her new job in February.
Ms Donnery is currently a head of division within the bank's consumer protection directorate.
She will now be responsible for regulation and supervision of the credit union sector in Ireland.
The new Registrar joined the Central Bank in 1996 as an economist. She has held a number of management positions in the bank and has held her current position for the past three years.
