Ormonde Mining has reported ''excellent'' results from the first trenching finished on the Cabeza de Caballo gold prospect in the Salamanca Province in Spain.
The prospect is part of the exploration company's joint venture with Aurum Mining.
It is about 60km southwest of Pino de Oro and 30km northwest of the Peralonso Prospect, where drilling is currently in progress.
Ormonde said that samples collected in four trenches were excavated on an extensive gold-in-soil anomaly.
These encountered gold mineralisation over wide zones of good grades. Applications for further exploration permits in the area have been submitted.
''These are extremely good results from the first detailed work carried out on the Cabeza Prospect,'' commented Ormonde Mining's managing director Kerr Anderson.
''This indicates that we may have identified a new, near surface gold system. We will undertake further trenching to follow up on these first results, with drilling of targets likely to follow,'' he added
