Credit unions' nationwide forums start in Limerick

The Central Bank has kicked off its series of Credit Union Regulatory Forum Series for this year in Limerick today.

The forums, now in their third year, offer credit union officers who hold key governance positions a chance to discuss regulatory policy, operations and the future shape and direction of the sector.

The meetings will be held nationwide over the coming weeks, with meetings in Cork, Kilkenny, Athlone, Sligo and Dublin to be held later this month.

''In these continuing difficult times for credit unions, it is imperative that strong leadership comes from all stakeholders in the sector to ensure the safety of members' savings and the financial stability and future prosperity of the sector as a whole,'' commented the Registrar for Credit Unions James O'Brien.
