DAA names Glanbia's Kevin Toland as new chief executive

The chief executive of food company Glanbia's US operations will leave the company at the end of the year to join the Dublin Airport Authority.

In a statement to the stock exchange, Glanbia said Kevin Toland had notified the company of his resignation, citing personal reasons including his desire to live full time in Ireland.

He will step down from Glanbia USA at the end of the year to take up the role of chief executive of the DAA. He replaces Declan Collier who left the airport authority to run London City Airport earlier this year.

"I understand his decision and wish him and his family every success and happiness in the future," said Glanbia managing director John Moloney.

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar welcomed Mr Toland's appointment but said he takes up the new role at a challenging time for the DAA. "For some years now, the DAA has been facing a very difficult business environment with significant falls in passenger traffic at the three State airports.

"Mr Toland’s initial challenge will be to deal with that situation and bring the company back to healthy growth," he said.
