The Dublin Airport Authority has selected Kevin Toland as its new chief executive, starting 1 January 2013.
Mr Toland, 47, from Navan Co Meath is formerly chief executive and president of Glanbia USA.
He was a member of the Glanbia board since 2003.
Mr Toland currently leads a division of 2,600 people across North America, Europe and Asia.
DAA Chairman Pádraig Ó Ríordáin said that "Kevin is exactly the right leader for DAA".
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Toland said "I am delighted to get the opportunity to lead one of Ireland's iconic companies and to contribute to its continued successful development at home and internationally."
