Kernel Capital had led a €620,000 investment in Dublin based Kinesense, a video content analysis software specialist.

Kernel Capital made the €500,000 investment through the Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund. The remainder of the funds were provided by BES and Angel investors.

Kinesense has developed innovative CCTV video retrieval and analysis solutions for the law enforcement and security markets in particular.

The company was founded in 2008 and is supported by Enterprise Ireland.

Its advanced technology can detect motion and other activity on camera and in video recordings in very low light and in difficult conditions and interpret what these activities signify.

The worldwide CCTV market is predicted to reach $23.5 billion by the end of 2014 and Kinesense will use the funds to drive further growth in international markets.

''We are seeing real traction for our solutions in many markets and this investment from Kernel Capital will enable us to accelerate international growth and expand our solution range to solve the issues surrounding the growing prevalence of CCTV for organisations,'' commented the company's chief executive Sarah Doyle.
