Possible further reserves in Barryroe oil field

Providence Resources has published further studies on the Barryroe oil field off the Co Cork coast.

Two new deeper reservoirs have been investigated and results indicate possible reserves of up to 780 million barrels between them.

Providence is concentrating efforts at the moment on the main wells, which studies showed in June could contain between a billion and a billion and a half barrels of oil.

Providence Technical Director John O'Sullivan described the studies as encouraging and said that "The numbers are potentially material and provide room for significant resource growth in the Barryroe project in the longer term."
