Airport traffic numbers down in July

Traffic numbers at major Irish airports in July were down compared to the same time last year according to the Irish Aviation Authority.

Commercial terminal flights at Dublin were down 0.9%. Cork was down 3.1% and Shannon was 4% lower.

However, the cumulatively growth for the June/July period in Dublin was 0.26% compared to the same period last year.

The July 2012 data from Eurocontrol shows that seven of Ireland’s top ten "Airport Pairs" showed growth, when compared to July 2011.

The IAA bills airlines for the use of air navigation services when passing through Irish airspace or landing at the State airports.

"Airport Pairs" refers to air routes that use these services.

The “New York - London Heathrow” route grew by 10.5%.

There was also an increase of 0.20% in flights that pass through Irish airspace but do not land in Ireland during July 2012, in comparison to July 2011.
