AIB has issued a statement confirming it currently works with rent receivers.
However it said it does so when customers in financial difficulty demonstrates a "lack of cooperation with the bank."
It also says that these strategies, implemented on a case by case basis, are designed to "ensure that the bank's economic interests are protected."
The bank says it currently works with rent receivers on a small number of specific cases where there are material borrowings, "typically where the bank's exposure is in excess of seven figures."
It adds that the appointment of a rent receiver typically results in an administrative change only for the tenant, which is advised to the affected tenants.
