The UK Competition Commission has cleared DCC's acquisition of certain oil distribution assets previously owned by Total in Britain.
The Competition Commission, which is expected to publish its final report on September 18, decided that the move would not lessen competition in the oil distribution market in Britain.
The acquisition was originally announced by DCC, the services support group, on September 23 2011, and completed on October 31 2011.
The Competition Commission said, in its provisional finding that the range of customers supplied by these businesses would not suffer from a substantial lessening of competition as a result of the acquisition.
It further said that customers with large load requirements such as service stations, would continue to have a range of supply options. The Commission said that the ease of entry for other, smaller suppliers would counteract any dangers to competition.
