€20m seed capital fund for Irish companies

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton has announced that €20m in seed capital is available to support Irish companies.

The fund is aimed at innovative companies focused on "go fast to market" strategies according to a statement.

The fund is available for co-investment and expressions of interest are being sought from fund managers.

Advertisements will appear in national newspapers this week seeking co-investors for this funding.

The Department's statement says that to date close to €155m of the total €175m under the Seed and Venture Capital Programme 2007 - 2012 has been committed to 11 Seed and Venture Funds.

In total, these funds have in excess of €630m under management for investment in early stage and growing companies.

Approximately €20m remains and this third call for expressions of interest is being issued with the objective of Enterprise Ireland making a number of commitments to fund managers focussed on assisting investee companies to "go fast to market" and assisting in attracting international syndicates of investors.
