Ballincollig retail project to create 200 longterm jobs

Planning permission has been for the development of a €15m retail project in Ballincollig, Co Cork.

The developers expect the project to employ 150 in the construction phase and 200 jobs on an ongoing basis.

The extension to the present Ballincollig Shopping Centre will be carried out by O'Flynn construction on the site of the former Murphy Barracks.

Tesco will be the anchor tenant in the new development which will begin in September 2012 and is expected to take one year to complete.

Michael O'Flynn, Managing Director of O'Flynn construction said that it was a flagship development fo Ballincollig and "establishes a centralised critical mass in the town centre."

The new store will extend to 70,000 sq. ft. with 330 car parking spaces below deck level.
