Britvic's soft drinks recall could cost £5m

Britvic Ireland says Irish Fruit Shoot bottles not affected by recall

Britvic Ireland says the Robinsons Fruit Shoot soft drink, produced and sold by it in Ireland, is not impacted by a precautionary and voluntary product recall occurring in the UK.

This is because Fruit Shoot sold by Britvic Ireland in the Republic is fitted with a standard cap and not the new design cap that has given rise to packaging safety issues in the UK.

It said that in the unlikely event that consumers encounter Fruit Shoot packs sourced from other markets and bearing the 'Magicap', they should return it to the retailer for a full refund.

Earlier the soft drink maker said it had recalled packs of its Robinsons Fruit Shoot drinks in the UK, fearing some of them may be damaged. It said it expected the recall to cut profit by £1-£5m sterling this year.

Britvic said ongoing tests identified some damaged caps, which may come off the soft drink packs. It was trying to resolve the issue so that normal production could resume, the company added.
