United Drug has brought a leading healthcare communications and consultancy agency for a total consideration of up to £13m sterling.
The Watermeadow Medical Consulting company is based in the UK and employs 74 people.
Its services include medical writing and preparation of promotional and educational materials for the launch of new products
United Drug said that as part of the deal, £6m is payable in cash with an additional amount of up to £7m payable depending on reaching agreed profit targets over the next two years.
The purchase will be funded from United's internal resources and existing debt facilities and the company said it expects it will immediately enhance its earnings.
