Bank of Ireland to sell €200m UK loans portfolio

Bank of Ireland said it has agreed a deal to sell its portfolio of UK infrastructure project finance loans worth about €200m.

The bank said the loans will be sold to an investment vehicle managed by Aviva Investors for 81% of their worth.

Bank of Ireland said the proceeds from the sale will further reduce its funding requirements, in line with its deleveraging plans.

It added that it will have a broadly neutral impact on the group's Core Tier 1 ratio.

The bank had said in April that it had completed or was in the process of completing divestments worth €9.5 billion.

''On the basis of the sale announced today and other deleveraging initiatives in progress, the Bank expects that it will be able to complete its target of €10 billion of divestments within the overall base case assumptions used as part of the 2011 Prudential Capital Assessment Review,'' it said in a statement.
