Bloxham staff told company won't pay them any more

Staff at Bloxham Stockbrokers, who had been told to expect a pay cheque in June, were told they will get no more pay from the firm, RTÉ has learned.

The workers held a meeting with provisional liquidator Kieran Wallace from KPMG this morning.

On Monday, management at the company told staff they would get a cheque in June.

But the company was put into liquidation yesterday which had the effect of making all employment contracts void.

Staff who have lost jobs will now have to apply for statutory redundancy which amounts to two weeks pay for every year of service.

Today they were told it could be some months before they receive statutory redundancy.

21 workers have taken up new posts with stockbroking company Davy. Another 35 will lose their jobs and a small number will remain in Bloxham on contract to wind up the company over the coming months.
