UTV Media Group has reported a 3% increase in revenue in the first four months of 2012.

The group says it expects like-for-like sales in its Irish radio holdings to continue to increase by 3% in the coming months

This is despite a 2% drop in revenue when foreign exchange costs are taken into account.

Revenue in the group's UK holdings rose by 8% when compared with the same period last year.

talkSPORT revenue increased by 16% over the same period.

In light of UEFA Euro 2012 and the Olympics the company expects revenue at the station to increase 20% in May and June.

The interim management statement reveals that TV revenue from advertising fell by 6% while other revenue fell by 4%.

Revenue in the group's new media for the first four months to April 30 grew by 3% compared to the same period in 2011.

The company expects new media revenue to increase by 15% in May and June when compared with last year.

This will largely reflect the impact of Simply Zesty, the social media agency acquired in March 2012.

Trading in the first half of 2012 is currently in line with expectations according to the media group with the major sporting events of Euro 2012 and the London Olympics expected to generate strong revenue growth during the summer.
