161 days lost to industrial dispute - CSO figures

CSO figures released today on industrial disputes show 161 days have been lost to one industrial dispute in the first quarter of 2012.

This dispute involved 75 workers and one firm. The firm is in the transportation and storage economic sector.

When compared to the same period in 2011 where three disputes involving 335 workers resulted in 2,451 days being lost, this is a decrease.

Taking figures from 2004-2012, so far 2009 is the year for the highest numbers of days lost.

There were 23 disputes involving 168 firms. 278,228 workers were involved with 329,593 days lost.
