EMC's quarterly revenues up 11%

Technology group EMC has reported first quarter revenues of $5.1 billion, up 11% on the same time last year.

Net income for the three month period to the end of March rose by 23% to $587m.

EMC, a global leader in cloud solutions, said that it generated operating cash flow of $1.7 billion and free cash flow of $1.4 billion.

This marked increases of 49% and 67% year on year respectively. The company has an Irish workforce of 2,500.

During the year EMC Ireland secured new contracts with Boyle Sports, Ordnance Survey Ireland, Tyndall Institute, and C2K Services for Schools, a public sector cloud project with the Department of Education in Northern Ireland.

EMC owns RSA Security in Shannon in Co Clare, and VMware in Ballincollig in Co Cork

Jason Ward, EMC's Country Manager in Ireland, said the results clearly showed that EMC is on a growth path.

''We are experiencing strong demand across all business lines, and our increased focus on the channel and mid-market business is driving growth as customers look to tap into the transformative impact of Big Data and cloud solutions in creating insights for improved business performance, new efficiencies and productivity levels, and increased agility for securely storing, managing and retrieving information,'' he said.
