Revenue audits and investigations brought in a total of €127.9m in the final three months of last year, according to figures published this afternoon.
A total of almost €15m was recovered through 90 settlements in the three-month period. Six of the Revenue settlements exceeded €500,000, with one of these for more than €1m. Those figures included interest and penalties.
The biggest settlement of just over €1.73m involved dentist James Madden, of Ballylennon House, Palatine, Carlow.
Dublin nightclub operator Pod Entertainment Ltd was involved in a settlement of €479,211 linked to the underdeclaration of VAT. The company operated the Tripod and Crawdaddy nightclubs, which closed last month.
James Brooke Tyrrell, of Church Road, Greystones, Co Wicklow, made a settlement of €724,682 for udnerdeclaration of income tax and VAT.
Mr Brooke Tyrrell, a former assistant manager at FÁS, was last year sentenced to four years in prison, with the last two suspended, for defrauding the agency of over €600,000 between 2003 and 2008. In the Revenue list, he is described as a video production service supplier.
George and Ruth Raymond, described as residential property developers, of Rustica, Upper Kindlestown, Delgany, Co Wicklow, made a settlement of €890,641, also for underdeclaration of VAT.
Ibrahim El Sherif, a doctor, of 62A Holywell, Upper Kilmacud Road in Dublin, made a settlement of €524,194 for underdeclaration of income tax.
Meanwhile, Boutique Restaurant Concepts Ltd, a company which operated celebrity chef Conrad Gallagher's restaurants, was fined €652 for failure to hold a current liquor licence. The High Court ordered the wind-up of the company last year.
The Revenue lists published today also include fines totalling €6,250 imposed on Meath GAA footballer Graham Geraghty and his wife Amanda for failing to return statements of their financial affairs to Revenue.
