Almost 500 jobs are to be created in a series of job projects which have been announced today.
The positions are being created in Galway, Leixlip, Sligo and Cork with the support of IDA Ireland.
Technology group Hewlett Packard is hiring up to 280 staff at its operations in Galway and Leixlip, Co Kildare. 150 of the jobs are in research and development, and HP is creating a further 130 new technical and support roles.
It is seeking experienced computer science graduates and project managers immediately. The HP investment is worth €45m.
In Sligo, pharmaceutical group Abbott is to invest €85m and create 175 positions. The new jobs will be in engineering, quality and pharmaceutical science. Some of the jobs will come on stream as the company expands its facility, the rest will be added in 2014.
In Cork, Big Fish Games is adding 30 jobs in its research and development activities.
