250 new jobs are being promised for Waterford city.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation Richard Bruton has announced that Eishtec, a Waterford-based company providing consumer contact centre services, is to create the new jobs within the next six months as part of an expansion.
The announcement is good news for Waterford, which has had thousands of job losses over the past four years - including Waterford Crystal, call centre Talk Talk and many other companies.
Eishtec was founded in Waterford six months ago by three local people, Heather Reynolds (previously of Talk Talk), Brian Barry and Colm Tracey, who have a combined experience of over 30 years in the contact centre industry.
They currently employ 30 people at their facility on the Cleaboy Business Park in Waterford. Their company's expansion is partly funded by the Government through Enterprise Ireland. Recruitment for the new positions is currently underway. The company hopes to employ 250 by the autumn.
MInister Bruton said the growth was on the back of Eishtec's securing a contract to provide customer service sales support for Orange, one of Britain's leading mobile phone companies.
