Aer Lingus has said that the number of passengers it carried last month - including those on its Aer Lingus Regional operations - rose by 8.8% in November compared to the same time last year.

The number of passengers carried on Aer Lingus routes rose by 7% to 699,000 last month compared to 653,000 in November 2010. Passengers on its regional services rose by 30% to 69,000 from 53,000.

The airline said its short-haul passenger numbers increased by 7.4% to 624,000 from 581,000 while long- haul numbers grew by 4.2% to 75,000 from 72,000.

Its load factor - or how many seats it fills on each flight - increased by 3.1 percentage points to 75.4% in November.
