The Taoiseach has outlined a new budgetary process that will see significant documents published ahead of Tuesday December 6, when Finance Minister Michael Noonan is due to make his Budget speech.

It is envisaged that a medium-term budgetary statement for the three years between 2012 and 2015 will be published at the end of this month.

Then, on November 10, the medium-term capital programme for each government department will be put in the public domain. A week later, planned spending reform measures will be published.

On December 1, the Government is to publish the outcome of the comprehensive review of public expenditure currently under way. The following day, the White Paper setting out the opening exchequer position for 2012 will be published ahead of the Budget the following week.
