Staff at insurer Aviva are to be briefed at 10am tomorrow morning on plans for around 850 job losses at the company's Irish operation.

The meetings will take place at Aviva's Dublin headquarters and at its regional offices in Galway and Cork.

There are also proposals to outsource 300 jobs, though it is unclear which staff will be affected, and where they will be transferred. But Aviva plans to create 100 new jobs at its health division, which will offset some of the redundancies.
