Construction firm Abbey PLC is on course for a “reasonable outcome” this year, and sales interest in Ireland has revived in recent weeks, according to the group’s executive chairman.

In remarks to the company’s shareholders at its AGM, Charles Gallagher said that trading in the first few months of the year had been “satisfactory” and that progress continued to be made across all parts of the business.

In Ireland, Mr Gallagher said, sales interest had revived in recent weeks after the summer holidays. He singled out a development in Kilcoole, Co Wicklow as being “particularly active”.

He said that Abbey’s activity in southern England continued at a steady rate and that overall, on present trends, the company was on course for a reasonable outcome.

Abbey was up almost 1% on Irish markets in morning trading today.
