Isolde Goggin has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Competition Authority by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton.
Ms Goggin will also act as chairperson-designate of the proposed Consumer and Competition Authority after the amalgamation of the Competition Authority and the National Consumer Agency.
She is a former chairperson and commissioner of ComReg and a former member of the Competition Authority from 1996 to 2002.
Minister Bruton said Ms Goggin was returning to the authority at a challenging time both economically and organisationally.
